Fall in Love with Sea Turtles

So in addition to making art, I have a real side job as part-time translator.  Days ago, I was translating a travel document and reminded of one of my own trips when the content there depicted sea turtles and their preservation.  Right after my translation work, I flew to my art journal and made this washi tape picture.


In 2007, I escaped from an unhappy ending of love story and traveled to Maldives alone.  Yes, Alone, all by myself.  I took my open water diving license and during the training I had a lovely encounter with a sea turtle that sneaked beneath my belly.  Without knowing this at first, I thought I did something wrong when some diving buddies gazed at me and gestured others to look over here.  I didn't realize it was a sea turtle under myself until a couple of divers started shooting with their camera.  It was a nice surprise underwater.

With this lovely memory, I googled for some facts about sea turtles and many incredible photos of them too. Since then I start drawing these charming creature. They are truly beautiful.


I think I will keep drawing and painting them.  Maybe they will take me to discover a whole new creative world.  Who knows?

This is my first time participating art challenge online.  I signed up in Fall Fearless and Fly on Artists in Blogland and expected myself to take the challenge and made some good move for my art development. I caught up the second challenge given the following prompts. Headline Prompt :  Taking a Chance:  When did you take a chance or a leap of faith?  How did it turn out?  What did you learn? Color Prompt :  What color do you like least? Use it! Quote Prompt :  "Don't refuse to go on an occasional wild goose chase -- that's what wild geese are for." Anonymous It appeared to me that the color prompt was easier for me to start up.  I wasn't thinking much about the headline and quote.  I wouldn't say that I dislike a certain color.  It is rather that I have less control over some of them.  Orange was the first color came across my mind and I always have hard time matching it with dark blue like Persian blue.  That was how I got there.

The picture was done after my being lazy for quite a while.  I was trying to draw this flower in colors combination that I rarely use or am not too comfortable with.  Cool color tone is always challenging for me.
